What will you be doing in this role?
This role is under the general direction of the Supervisor, Coding using knowledge of CSMC and Coding Clinic guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathological basis of disease, documented treatment and procedures performed at CSMC. Assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS and for patients receiving services at CSMC. Correctly assigns ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for patients receiving services at CSMC. Works under general direction of the HID Coding Supervisor and uses knowledge of CSMC and Coding Clinic guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and pathological basis of disease, documented treatment and procedures performed at CSMC. Correctly assigns DRGs for all patients. Abstracts all coded data in a timely and accurate manner into the abstracting system. Has working knowledge of all California and National reporting requirements. This is an inpatient coding role.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with inpatient acute care coding. Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding with excellent working knowledge of the DRG payment methodology and AHA Coding Clinic required.
- High school diploma/GED required. Associate in health information science, bachelor's in health information management, or completion of courses in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding from an accredited coding program or comparable level of education preferred.
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required upon hire.
