What will you be doing in this role?
The Charge Description Master Analyst requires strong analytic and technical skills to include: Charge Description Master, Information Systems, Coding, Pricing and ability to understand governmental billing guidelines and transmittals and non-governmental payor guidelines. Ability to understand billing practices, medical records and charge audit methodologies. Excellent written and verbal communication as this position is a liaison between the Health Information Department (HID) and Revenue Management Department (RMD) to the ancillary departments throughout the Medical Center, Patient Financial Services (PFS) and Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) and requires high level communication across the continuum of care. Primary duties include:
- Review governmental payor memorandums and transmittals as well as non-governmental payor requirements, medical records, hospital bills and billing practices.
- Review ancillary and clinical department functions for hospital, their information systems, and charging practices to ensure charges are appropriately linked to each department.
- Works with personnel throughout the Medical Center to in-service on areas to include: documentation of procedures, supplies, equipment use, time, charge claims reimbursement cycle relative to the Charge Description Master and related areas.
- Coordinate, monitor and approve changes, in conjunction with PFS, EIS, Finance, RMD and others, made to the Charge Description Master through established hospital wide protocols.
- Evaluate and recommend practices regarding the Charge Description Master to ensure codes stay in sync with regulatory standards of practices.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- A minimum of three years of experience in finance, healthcare, or a related field required.
Experience we are seeking:
- Proficient in payment review systems, hospital information systems and CPT coding methodologies, and chart review, clinical record information systems and charging methodologies with demonstrated ability to understand and interpret medical records and the charge master.
- Team orientation including good interpersonal skills for effective written and verbal communication with co-workers and Management.
- Strong quantitative, analytical organizational skills with the ability to use and understand computer technology.
