We are seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant who will provide high quality, efficient, team-based patient focused care under the direction of a highly respected and renowned board-certified physician. The Surgical Physician Assistant will assess, diagnose, and implement the medical care of patients in collaboration with the physician. They are clinically responsible for the provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive medical/surgical care using sound medical knowledge and pertinent standards of care. You will serve as first assist in surgeries and will typically assist surgeons by performing physical examinations on patients, handing tools and necessary items, closing incisions, and even maintaining the cleanliness of operating rooms while adhering to Cedars-Sinai's health and safety regulations. Our Surgical Physician Assistant will be responsible for the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will serve as a first assist in the operating room. This is a very heavy surgical role, and the Physician Assistant can expect to be in the operating room at three (3) days a week and two (2) days in clinic.
- In clinic, will be expected to examine patients, performs comprehensive physical examination, and complies patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination.
- Under the direction of the trauma surgeon/s, you will conduct patient assessments, order, or directly provide treatments as well as patient education and support.
- Provide post-op follow-ups.
- Work under protocol to develop an effective, safe, and patient-centered treatment plans.
- Provide timely and complete clinical documentation in the EHR following patient visits or telephone calls.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the physician regarding assigned patients and provide timely notification of changes in patient status.
- Maintain ongoing communication with other members of the care team through written documentation, telephone or in-person conversation.
- Ensure timely access of patient appointments.
- Will be responsible for high surgical volume.

Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies
License/Certification requirements:
- National Certification as a Physician Assistant
- BLS and ACLS Certification required
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification required
Experience:
- Preferably a minimum one (1) year Physician Assistant experience in a relevant clinical area preferred, e.g., orthopedics or sports medicine, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialties.
- Physician is seeking a strong minded, moldable and highly efficient individual who enjoys orthopedics.
- Must be a team player who is flexible and willing to work beyond the standard working hours as needed.
