We are seeking a Clinic based Surgical Physician Assistant who will provide high quality, efficient, team-based patient focused care under the direction of a board-certified physician. The Surgical Physician Assistant will assess, diagnose, and implement the medical care of patients in collaboration with the physician. They are clinically responsible for the provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive medical care using sound medical knowledge and pertinent standards of care. This is a clinic-based role in our Altadena outpatient clinic with occasional travel to Arcadia and possibly Pasadena. Our Surgical Physician Assistant will perform the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and complies patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination.
- Under the direction of the hand surgeon, you will conduct patient assessments, order, or directly provide in-office treatments such as euflexa and trigger finger injections as well as other types on injections, as well as provide patient education and support.
- Provide post-op follow-ups.
- Work under protocol to develop an effective, safe, and patient-centered treatment plans.
- Provide timely and complete clinical documentation in the EHR following patient visits or telephone calls.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the physician regarding assigned patients and provide timely notification of changes in patient status.
- Maintain ongoing communication with other members of the care team through written documentation, telephone or in-person conversation.
- Ensure timely access of patient appointments.
- This position is 100% clinic-based with very little to no operating room duties, only in-office procedures.
- Will be responsible for high clinic volume.
*Working hours: 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday
**Clinic hours: 4 ½ days + ½ day administrative time
***This role may require up to 6 days of hospital rounding per year, as well as 1 holiday per year
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies
License/Certification requirements:
- National Certification as a Physician Assistant
- BLS and ACLS Certification required
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification required
Experience:
- Preferably a minimum one (1) year Physician Assistant experience in a relevant clinical area preferred, e.g., orthopedics or sports medicine, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialties.
- Physician is seeking a strong minded, highly efficient individual who enjoys orthopedics.
- Must be a team player who is flexible and willing to work beyond the standard working hours as needed.
