Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Charge RN - Med Surg/Tele (Unit 3/South) for our day shift at Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a skilled team in a progressive care setting, providing both direct and indirect patient care. You will have the chance to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise will contribute to our flawless patient care standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, plan, and direct the operations of the nursing unit for your assigned shift.
- Deliver both direct and indirect patient care, responding promptly and precisely to alterations in patient condition.
- Communicate effectively with Physicians, Nursing Unit Directors, and co-workers about patient clinical conditions.
- Prepare monthly work schedules, daily patient assignments, and manage break and meal period schedules.
- Supervise and delegate work to unit employees, ensuring efficient staffing levels.
- Conduct interviews for unit positions, evaluate probationary employees, and perform annual employee evaluations.
- Resolve conflicts among unit employees and address complaints from patients, families, and physicians.
- Ensure narcotics and controlled substances are counted and locked per hospital policy.
- Assist the Unit Director with special projects and the management of the unit’s Quality Improvement Plan.
- Perform comprehensive assessments and formulate individualized care plans for patients of all ages.
- Demonstrate knowledge of medication administration, critical thinking, and cardiac monitoring.
- Educate patients and families on pain management and provide care for patients with complex health needs.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate Degree in nursing minimum.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience in acute care.
- Preferred 1 year of experience as a Charge Nurse.
- Preferred 1 year of Telemetry experience.
License/Certification:
- Current California Registered Nurse Licensure upon hire.
- BLS certification upon hire.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong ability to assess and reassess patient needs and conditions.
- Proven skills in critical thinking and decision-making.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team to provide patient-centered care.
- Knowledge of the principles of growth and development, age-specific care, and technical nursing skills.

We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
