What will I be doing in this role?

The Tax Accountant supports the process of tax return preparation and government required filings for the organization and its affiliates. This role assists in the preparation of workpapers, tax return filings, handles tax and other payments, maintains tax records, responds to notices from vendors and taxing authorities, and assists with audits, tax projects, and other special projects as needed. You will:

  • Assist with the preparation and filing of tax-exempt Federal and state returns for the organization and its taxable and exempt affiliates. 
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of property tax and welfare exemption returns. 
  •  Prepare and file sales/use tax returns.
  •  Prepare and file business tax returns.
  • Analyze financial information and review source documents.
  • Respond to notices and inquiries from various vendors, taxing authorities, and assists with audits.
  • Research tax and corporate matters.
  • Calculate tax liability and send out tax payments.
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams on tax issues.
  • Reconcile G/L accounts associated with taxes and license and resolve any discrepancies. Prepare monthly journal entries.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects.

This is a full-time benefitted role with a fixed term that is anticipated to run through approximately October 31, 2025.


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or another related field required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in tax return preparation or accounting preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of recent public accounting experience preferred.

  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong accounting skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding self-review skills required. 
  • Self-starter who works well independently and with the team.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills including excellent spelling and grammar.
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software, tax software, and Microsoft Office
  • Good people skills.
