What will you be doing:
The Senior HR Compliance Specialist (Litigation) provides HR compliance and consultation services related to local, state and federal laws and regulations, HR policies and procedures, equal employment opportunity requirements, employment litigation, federal and state employment laws and regulations, and/or other compliance or regulatory matters.
- Coordinates and manages active and pending employment litigation matters, including working directly with internal stakeholders and outside counsel. Responsible for managing full cycle of litigation from initial complaint or demand letter through discovery to trial/arbitration.
- In consultation with leadership, serves as the organization’s representative and manage, develop and implement all phases of assigned employment litigation matters and/or investigations, including but not limited to, gathering, preserving and developing evidence, witness interviews, discovery, document preparation, depositions, mediation, and/or arbitration/trial. This includes working with outside counsel, vendors and other resources on strategy and preparation of litigation cases. Also applies techniques for gathering information that improves clarity and reliability.
- Provide stakeholders with information about the investigatory process and applicable rights and policies. Maintain timely communication with all involved parties and key stakeholders.
- Promotes compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations by leading through influence, providing consultative and/or investigation services and serving as a resource to other departments and Cedars-Sinai management regarding employment law, HR policies and/or other compliance and regulatory matters. Coordinates and works collaboratively with Human Resources, appropriate departments and related stakeholders.
- Work to continuously improve and provide recommendations regarding compliance related policies, procedures and/or processes across the organization. Drafts and reviews related internal and external communications.
- Supports the reduction of the organization's exposure to legal risk by developing and contributing to training programs or educational materials for Human Resources and organizational leadership.
- Leads or participates in special projects related to either departmental and/or organization needs as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
Five (5) plus years of Compliance, Human Resources, Litigation and/or other Legal experience.
Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations, including leave and disability laws, wage and hour regulations and EEO.
Educational/License Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
Doctorate Degree – Juris Docter (J.D.) Degree of Law preferred.
Licensed Attorney in California preferred.
