What will you be doing in this role?The Payroll Manager has direct responsibility and supervision of the daily activities in the Payroll Department. This position manages the activities in carrying out responsibility for payroll preparation and all other related functions to ensure the beginning of the payroll processing begins on time. The Payroll Manager ensures that the research, date entry and communication of pay adjustments are done by the Payroll Reps in a timely manner. Payroll Manager has working knowledge of the functional aspects of the time and attendance system and the Payroll/HR system. Performs and supervises all activities related to the daily/bi-weekly payroll process. Primary duties include:
Performs and oversees all activities necessary to facilitate the processing of both the bi-weekly payroll and the expense reimbursement payroll, including maintaining related records, preparing the tax reports, voluntary deduction reports and other required reports post payroll processing.
Performs and oversees all activities necessary to process involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments.
Performs all activities related to the processing of payroll, including auditing and preparing general ledger entries, balancing and controlling earnings and deductions totals, determining and correcting out-of-balance conditions.
Responsible for the preparation of reports to assist with the quarterly and annual 941 tax returns.
Prepare accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures and preparing special reports for management.
Acts as a liaison between the Payroll Department and the different entities (MNS, Medical Care Foundation and Marina Hospital) to ensure the timely preparation/production of the payroll process.
Acts as a liaison between the Payroll Department and Personnel Records department to ensure timely resolutions of all payroll/worker related issues.
Works with General Accounting in reconciling, balancing, and analyzing various payroll transactions and out of balance conditions.
Knowledgeable of all the duties and responsibilities of the payroll staff, including their specialties.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related major preferred.
- 8 years Payroll experience using payroll systems such Lawson required.
- 5 years Supervisory/Management experience required.
- 5 years of knowledge of payroll systems preferred.
- Knowledge of Oracle and UKG systems a plus.
- Payroll systems experience key.
- Enjoys a fast paced, team environment.
