The Samuel Oschin Cancer Center, nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report, treats more than 60 types of cancer. Its team of experts works to create a treatment plan to meet each patient's specific needs. The center's outpatient infusion center offers chemotherapy and supportive services, including 18 private rooms for treatment sessions six hours or longer.

As our next Education Program Coordinator, you will take a leadership role in the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education programs/projects for patients, personnel and the community across the health care continuum. You can look forward to working closely on a peer level with our Clinical Nurse Specialists and Service Line Managers.

Summary of Essential Duties:

  • Ensures that staff maintain competency skills in areas of responsibility including the ability to interact with people of diverse cultural backgrounds and identify the ability of the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient to understand instructions and give consent
  • Identifies safety concerns and institute measures to provide a safe environment
  • Utilizes a systematic approach to assess educational needs in collaboration with all levels of nursing and medical personnel and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of educational programs
  • Collaborates throughout the Cedars-Sinai Health System (CSHS) in initiating and implementing educational programs/projects
  • Markets programs to the health system and community
  • Independently coordinates programs, projects and events with Nursing, Medical Center departments and community
  • Serves as a resource and consultant for educational programs
  • Provides orientation and training for Nursing and health system personnel
  • Attends educational conferences and seminars (minimum of 2 per year) to maintain current knowledge in specialty area
  • Facilitates research by facilitating inter and intradepartmental research, promoting collaborative research and utilizing education and clinical research findings to design/revise education programs
  • Actively participates in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Performance Improvement Program
  • Participates in housewide committee work in areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) required

License/Certifications:

  • Current, unrestricted California RN license required
  • OCN certification from ONS OR willing to obtain within a year from start

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of oncology preferred
  • At least 5 year of experience as an Educator or Trainer required
  • Experience using PowerPoint required
