You will support the physicians and nursing staff in the delivery of health care by performing a variety of medically related tasks.
What will I be doing?The Logistics Technician, under the direction of a licensed care giver, and after education and demonstration of competency, performs a variety of direct patient care activities or tasks specific to the unit/needs of the patient population. The Logistics Technician is primarily accountable for transporting supplies and equipment interdepartmentally and patients in all age groups. The Logistics Technician identifies safety concerns in the age-related population; institutes protective measures to provide a safe environment, and identifies normal growth and developmental milestones in neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. You will:
- Observe safety guidelines in transporting supplies, specimens and equipment.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when assisting in patient care.
- Take appropriate steps in maintaining equipment including those used for patient transport.
- Report observations and outcomes of activities performed.
- Reduce the risk of patient harm resulting from falls -observes patient for risk of falling and takes action to prevent patient falls.
- Demonstrate knowledge of normal growth and development in patient population.
- Improve the accuracy of patient identification - uses two identifiers when transporting patient between units/departments.
- Reduce the risk of health care acquired infection by following current CDC hand washing guidelines and CSMC isolation policy
Qualifications
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Basic Life Support certification (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire
- Knowledge of therapeutic positioning techniques preferred
- Full command of verbal and written English language sufficient to carry out the duties identified in the job description
