What Will You Be Doing In This Role?

Job Summary:

The Associate Director, Security works with guidance from department leadership and provides direction and support to the Security Staff. The Associate Director is responsible for the management of operational programs and services, financial oversight and people management. The Associate Director is involved in the strategy, planning, and execution of strategic initiatives that will impact the business unit and the organization. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Collaborate with leadership in the strategy, planning, and execution of Security Department strategic initiatives that will impact the business unit.
Create and execute project work plans to lead multiple projects and independently manage timelines, tasks and team members to develop and implement programs that transcend across all Security entitiess; Utilize best practice or evidence-based metrics to track program goals and outcomes.
Collaborate with other directors and management in cross-functional process improvement, teamwork, open communication,  and problem solving to ensure the effective coordination and integration of Security services within and between units.
Develop business and operation plans for the unit and for specific programs by preparing, monitoring and controlling budgets and ensuring conformity with established budgetary goals. Manage monthly reports to explain variances and make recommendations for corrective action when necessary.
Create policies and procedures and implement Performance Improvement initiatives and set up data collection processes and reporting systems as necessary.
Develop staffing plan to ensure appropriate staff level based on patient volume and activity; Responsible for hiring, maintaining and improving competencies, and staff development to increase their skills, knowledge and experience.  Conduct performance reviews, disciplinary actions and action plans.
Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards and licensure requirements. Maintain staff compliance with medical center policies, procedures and protocols.
Responsible for the management and resolution of all internal and external security department escalated complaints.
Investigates and prepares reports for all use of force incidents. Notify security management team members promptly of significant security incidents and/or personnel matters.
Liaison with local agencies, such as the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office, Los Angeles Fire Department, Federal Bureau of Investigations and the United States Secret Service.


Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Management, Criminal Justice or related field required

Master's Degree Preferred 

Experience:

Minimum 5 years management experience required

8 years management experience in Security, Law Enforcement, Investigations or related field preferred
