Find Your Calling
For more than a century, our nursing staff has been there for our neighbors in Los Angeles. From delivering newborns to celebrating the completion of chemotherapy, we are by our patients’ sides for the big moments in life.
Our passion shows. Cedars-Sinai recently earned our fifth consecutive Magnet designation for nursing excellence, making us the hospital with the longest-running Magnet designation in the state of California.
The community we treat has diverse needs, which is why we’re committed to meeting the demand for specialty nurses. The Geri and Richard Brawerman Nursing Institute provides clinical training for nurses and offers over 100 continuing education courses each year. In 2017, educators at the institute taught more than 800 undergraduate and graduate nurses.
We are also committed to treating more than just the body. In 2014, we implemented one of the first hospital-wide depression screening programs in the country. Nurses screen adult patients for symptoms within 24 hours of admission. Recently, we extended that program to include postpartum depression screenings. With help from local organization Maternal Mental Health NOW, we train nurses to spot signs of postpartum depression in new mothers and talk to them about ways to get the help and treatment they need.
