The Cedars-Sinai Biomanufacturing Center (CBC) is a state-of-the art facility that comprises of a cGMP cell manufacturing facility housing multiple cleanroom cell production suites and process development rooms for producing the next generation of cell and gene therapies. Under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician II will perform a wide variety of skilled, junior level duties in the installation, modification, design, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery used in the operation of Cedars-Sinai Biomanufacturing Center and performs related duties as assigned in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines. Excellent communication skills are necessary in dealing with both employees and vendors throughout each day to answer repair requests, work with equipment vendors, and accept and deliver shipments throughout the facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general facility basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks including plumbing repairs, painting, office furniture installation, general building repairs, replace light bulbs, building exteriors and others as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot, rebuild, overhaul, repair, maintain, modify, and install various types of electrical and production equipment, tools and machinery as required.
  • Ensure clean rooms and general facility is maintained in optimum conditions and in compliance with GMP requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment; work in a safe manner following all safety SOP’s and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required
  • Maintain accurate records keeping equipment and systems cGMP compliant including calibration and other testing records.
  • Assist in all facility services including physical security, waste removal, recycling, central services, office furnishings and office equipment.
  • Monitor contractor performance and work closely with outside vendors to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
  • Ensure manufacturing and all labs and lab personnel are supported to meet business needs, including lab gasses, preventive maintenance, equipment service contracts and safety equipment.
  • Ability to work safely in an environment containing hazardous chemicals, high and low temperature liquids, high pressure liquids and gasses, steam, and moving machinery.
  • Receive gasses and check status daily.
  • Performs all other duties as may be assigned.

Department-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of building P&IDs, as-built, schematics and flow diagram required.
  • Perform utility systems troubleshooting and routine preventive maintenance task including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, chiller and Boiler system with associated pumps and motors.
  • Coordinate and execute facility utility system services with vendors in timely manner
  • Record Daily temperature and humidity for GMP and other critical areas.
  • Check and respond to Equipment Monitoring System and Building Management Systems.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED, required. A bachelor's degree is preferred.

Experience & Skills:

  • Two (2) years of experience in biomanufacturing or pharmaceutical facilities, required.
  • Working knowledge of state and local regulatory requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. And has full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
  • Demonstrates commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
  • Demonstrated success working independently, forging relationships, and managing multiple tasks with minimal directions.
  • Must be able to manage competing priorities, while being extremely adaptable and flexible and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Collaborates to problem solve and make decisions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with cross-functional team(s).
  • Responds timely, effectively and appropriately to deliverables.
