Job Description

The Cedars-Sinai Medical Group offers a full spectrum of Internal Medicine and Multi-Specialty patient care, servicing patients in geographies across the Greater Los Angeles area. The center, affiliated with the Cedars‑Sinai Smidt Heart Institute, offers the full spectrum of cardiology care, including cardiac evaluation, heart failure management, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and hypertension management.

The group is home to many investigators and staff with an interest in clinical research. To provide needed support for the growing portfolio of research, and ensure optimal success, we have implemented a centralized research infrastructure that:

  • Allows for greater collaboration and shared resourcing.
  • Standardizes processes and streamline costs.
  • Creates transparency and accountability in financial reporting.
  • Ensures appropriate feasibility and impact reviews.
  • Provides consistency to sponsors and research partners.
  • Assures appropriate training for research investigators/staff.
  • Assures financial and regulatory compliance to minimize risk.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Research, who will provide medical evaluation and care to patients enrolled in research studies in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation. This activity is performed in collaboration with physician-investigator(s) of the department, and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team. Your practice includes the screening and consenting of patients who are candidates for interventional, diagnostic and/or observational clinical trials, medically managing them while on a protocol and providing their follow-up care. This includes monitoring and reporting adverse and serious adverse events, placing research orders, completing case report forms and other required documentation, participating in weekly research meetings, and providing in-services on new protocols to clinical and research staff.  The position requires broad collaboration with physician-investigators, clinical teams and research colleagues on the implementation of research protocols in a high acuity patient population, in both the in-patient and out-patient setting. Position also provides opportunities for publication and presentation of study results.


Qualifications

Educational Requirements: 

  • Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the Board of Registered Nursing is required

Licenses:

  • Current unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license issued by the State of California
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certificate
  • Furnishing number issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).

Experience: 

  • Three (3) years clinical nursing experience including acute care, cardiology and solid organ transplant or three years clinical research experience in comparable specialty is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various computer software (Outlook, Excel, Teams), electronic health records, and data platforms.
