What will you be doing in this role:

The Principal Architect - Technology Strategist is a key leadership role within the Consumer Digital department, responsible for shaping the technology strategy and architecture for consumer-facing digital initiatives in the healthcare space. This role will act as a consultant, driving the design and delivery of systems and solutions—whether developed in-house or in collaboration with external partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare IT, with experience in Epic EHR systems, other open-source technologies, and a consistent track record to align technology solutions with organizational, stakeholder, and user needs. An architect will play a pivotal role in redefining healthcare delivery through technology, improving patient care and engagement. This role brings an opportunity to shape the future of digital healthcare systems and make a significant impact within a dynamic healthcare organization. This individual will work alongside passionate professionals dedicated to improving the patient experience through innovation.

  • Lead the architectural vision and technology design for consumer-facing healthcare solutions, ensuring alignment with both business goals and patient care standards.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, clinical leadership, and cross-functional teams, identifying areas where technology can enhance patient experience, operational efficiency, and clinical outcomes.
  • Be responsible for the design, architecture, and delivery of scalable, secure, patient-centric, and innovative digital health solutions, collaborating with in-house product development teams and external partners.
  • Ensure that all digital solutions are integrated with Epic EHR systems, demonstrating your knowledge of Epic's modules, workflows, and interoperability to enhance patient care.
  • Lead evaluations, selection, and partnerships with external vendors. Manage relationships and ensure seamless integration of third-party solutions into the overall technology architecture.
  • Work closely with clinical, product management, operations, and IT teams to align digital initiatives with patient and business needs.
  • Stay ahead of with emerging technologies and healthcare trends, including telehealth platforms, AI, machine learning, wearables, and data interoperability. Drive innovation by evaluating new tools, frameworks, and methodologies that can enhance product and technical capabilities.
  • Define and implement architectural best practices to ensure all digital systems follow healthcare regulations (HIPAA), maintaining security, privacy, and data integrity.
  • Provide technical leadership to teams within the Consumer Digital department, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

Six (6) plus years of experience in software engineering in a sophisticated multi-platform environment; 12 plus years of overall experience is preferred.

Six (6) or more years of experience as a lead architect or in a consulting capacity, with a track record of delivering successful technology solutions. 

Architecting and delivering consumer-focused digital healthcare solutions.

Strong understanding of healthcare enterprise architecture and software development in a regulated environment. 

Proficiency in cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern tech stacks. 

Solid understanding of security, data privacy, and compliance (HIPAA) in large-scale systems.

Experience in application development with a focus on API, DevOps, Web, Mobile App technologies.

Experience architecting solutions in a cloud-native context (AWS).

Application development in diverse technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Next.js, React.js, Python.

Experience in healthcare organization with deep experience in Epic FHIR and Proprietary API is preferred.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and lead change across different levels of the organization.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.

The base pay range shown above takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
