What will you be doing in this role?

The Manager, Patient Accounting is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the daily operations of assigned areas, to meet the needs of all customers, ensure the timely submission and collections of claims and support Medical Center philosophies. The Manager assumes fiscal responsibility through preparation of unit budgets, serves as a liaison with medical staff and other personnel, promotes maximum growth and development of each employee, participants in strategic planning, both long and short term and assumes patient advocacy. The Manager, Patient Accounting is accountable to the Executive Director and guides staff in meeting customer's needs consistent with the Medical Center's philosophy, mission, vision and strategic plan. The role is responsible for contributing to the overall achievement of Patient Financial Services goals and objectives. Maintains competency skills including the ability to interact with customers of diverse cultural backgrounds. Department specific responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the claims department, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of claims. Monitor and analyze claims data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage and mentor a team of claims specialists, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals. Collaborate with insurance companies, clearinghouse/vendors, and other CSHS partners to resolve claims-related issues.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline claims processing that enhance reimbursement. Prepare and present regular reports on claims performance, including key metrics and financial impact.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards in claims processing. Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices in claims management.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED required. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field highly preferred. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of Hospital business office experience, specializing in one or more of the following: admissions, financial screening, insurance verification, billing and collection required,  with professional billing claims experience highly preferred. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in multiple areas, and/or with supervisory or management experience and experience with the Epic patient account system highly preferred.
