What will I be doing in this role?

The Manager, MN Clinical Operations supports the safe and effective delivery of patient care services in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation. Leads the daily operations of the clinical operations team, clinical education, supervision and development of staff, performance improvement, and enhancement of the profitability of assigned areas. Participates in Foundation support initiatives. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.

Department-Specific Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:


•    Manages staff, assigns, and delegates responsibilities within the scope of practice to the appropriately licensed and unlicensed health care providers as indicated. Oversees daily operations and leads department using a shared governance model and Lean principles of management.
•    Uses expert knowledge, clinical skills, and critical thinking in managing daily delivery of support services ensuring implementation of the appropriate clinical processes and coordinating an interdisciplinary team approach.
•    Ensures efficient levels of clinical efficiency and services for all customers.
•    Participates in the interviewing, hiring, evaluation and human resource management functions of the staff.
•    In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Operations, develops goals and operations/business plans for clinical operations specifically, and as a component of the continuum of care within CSMCF.
•    Establishes and maintains patient care standards and ensures that patient care functions are completed safely and effectively.
•    Ensures that Nursing Standards of Practice and standard methodologies are implemented.
•    Plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the orientation and appraisal processes for the clinical operations staff.
•    Conducts formal and informal evaluations of staff proficiency, determining staff educational needs, and providing structured assistance in areas needing improvement.
•    Provides staff training, as needed, both informally and in formal in-service presentations.
•    Acts as an expert of the electronic medical record, training new staff, implementing new functionality, and providing ongoing direction for system utilization.
•    Assists the Senior Manager, MN Clinical Ops in developing and managing the budget for responsible services.
•    Ensures compliance with drug safety and administration guidelines.
•    Provides direct patient care as needed.
•    Forecasts and plans for appropriate resource utilization.
•    Collaborates to problem solve and make decisions to achieve desired outcomes.
•    Establishes effective working relationships with cross-functional team(s).
•    Shares knowledge, time and knowledge to assist other members of the team.
•    Cultivates and maintains strong customer relationships and rapport with partners and/or business groups.
•    Identifies and responds appropriately to both internal and external customer needs using available resources.
•    Plans, leads, and supervises work of staff to ensure goals and objectives are completed within established budget and goals are met.
•    Responsible for hiring, onboarding, managing schedules, personnel actions, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans.
•    Acts as a team lead to include supervising the work of others, assigning, or allocating work to team, and ensuring tasks are completed according to goals and quality standards.
•    Oversees the day-to-day work of employees, assigns work, ensures tasks are completed and goals are met.


Qualifications

Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED is required. 

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Business, or Healthcare Administration is preferred. 

Five (5) years of Supervisory experience, 3 of which is in an inpatient or outpatient clinical setting, is required. 

Valid Drivers License is required. 

Licenses and Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.

Ambulatory Care Nursing is preferred. 

AHA Healthcare Provider certified is preferred. 

AAACN Certification is preferred.

•    Working knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission and other state and local regulatory requirements.
•    Demonstrated success working independently, forging relationships, and managing multiple tasks with minimal directions.
•    Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area.
•    Working knowledge of subject matter domain areas in clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory and reimbursement context.
•    Ability to deliver safe, appropriate, ethical and evidence-based care in an effective, efficient and professional manner; incorporates feedback, self-reflection, sound clinical reasoning and problem solving to continuously improve quality of care and operational processes.
•    High level of proficiency using Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft Office software: MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
•    Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information for decision support.
•    Demonstrates knowledge of trends and forces shaping the health care delivery system, the provision of care and other emerging issues in health care management including Clinical Guidelines.
