What will you be doing in this role?
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for planning and delivering nutritional care to all patients admitted at Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital. The Dietitian performs as a member of the multidisciplinary care team. Screens admitted patients to identify those at nutritional risk. Oversees diet technicians with menu edits for patient preferences. Utilizes independent clinical judgment in line with evidence-based guidelines.
- Assesses patients’ nutritional status according to established standards. Conducts in-services as requested.
- Obtains necessary information from the medical record and by patient interview to determine patients’ nutritional status. Develops nutritional care plans for patients of any age or cultural orientation.
- Performs comprehensive malnutrition risk screening and documents results in line with consensus guidelines.
- Evaluates the results of nutritional intervention on the patient’s nutritional status to determine the need to revise the nutritional care plan.
- Approves patient menus and nutritional supplements.
- Provides patient, family, and caretaker nutrition counseling.
- Performs and documents nutritional assessments and evaluates patient tolerance to therapeutic diets when appropriate.
- Collaborates with other allied health services (e.g., nursing, pharmacy, social work, etc.) to plan and implement patient care as necessary in meeting the nutritional needs of patient.
- Consults with physicians to implement nutrition care plan and improve patient outcomes.
- Uses evidence-based guidelines to make nutrition care recommendations. Documentation meets current regulatory standards and policies.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family. Provides nutritional teaching and counseling to patients/family in making desired changes in eating habits.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
- Provides food-drug interaction education as needed.
- Collaborates with and oversees diet clerks and NDTR to help meet patient preferences and optimize nutrition delivery.
- Assists in orienting and training new employees.
Hours: Flexible start time between 7 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or related field, Dietetic internship or equivalent clinical training as specified by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics - required.
- Master's Degree Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or related field, Dietetic internship or equivalent clinical training as specified by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics - preferred.
Experience
- No experience required.
- 1 year Experience as a Clinical Dietitian in an acute environment preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Dietitian - minimum Certification as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration required.

Our compensation philosophy
We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
