Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The FNS Lead is responsible for day to day operations of nutrition service personnel, ensuring efficient service delivery. The Lead will utilize Nutrition Software and maintain nutrition databases, including managing vendor relationships and updating the USDA database. Collaboration with the culinary team to develop recipes and implement daily menu changes is essential. The Lead will provide training to nutrition service personnel in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. The Lead role includes supervising patient meal service, ensuring timely processing of diet orders, tray line accuracy, and adjustments based on physician-ordered therapeutic menus, while monitoring the culinary team's production and quality standards.
Additionally, the lead will manage ordering and inventory responsibilities. The Lead is authorized to deliver nutrition education to patients when clinical dietitians are unavailable, acting as a liaison between operations and clinical dietitians to enhance patient interactions and optimize resource utilization. Collecting and presenting performance improvement data to hospital committees, participating in patient experience meetings, and sharing team insights to enhance meal satisfaction are also key responsibilities. Throughout the year, the lead will organize and collaborate on various nutrition service projects to continually improve services.
- Monitor and support staff in adherence policies and procedures. Including communicating new updates with the team.
- Assist in monthly nutrition department meetings and in-services to promote quality service and continuous team improvement.
- Support CNM on Nutrition software and performs menu editing as directed by the Registered Dietitian and Food Service Director.Including staying up to date with software and functions used to enhance employee workflow.
- Collaborates with the culinary team on recipe testing and changes to patient menus options to address patient feedback.
- Ensure food safety, maintain kitchen clean, neat and organize during food preparation, service, and closing.
- Train diet clerks as needed with new employee orientation, task analysis for each position, receiving and restocking of goods from the nutrition formulary.
- Creates helpful materials and visuals for food service staff to use during meal production and when using new equipment or software.
- Acts as a team lead to include overseeing the work of others, assigning or allocating work to team, and ensuring tasks are completed according to deadlines and quality standards.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a healthcare-related setting within a nutrition department.
- Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered; Has successfully passed the NDTR exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or equivalent within 180 days of hire required.
- Servsafe Food Manager Certification within 90 days of hire required.

Our compensation philosophy
We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
