Associate Director, Nursing Operations - Med Surg/Telemetry

Responsibilities:
- Articulates organizational goals and vision and can regularly communicate relevant information to subordinates. Demonstrate and promote leadership behaviors and cultural values as defined in the Cedars Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital (CSMDRH) and Cedars-Sinai Health System (CSHS) mission and vision.
- Possess a highly developed ability to work effectively with a variety of constituencies and can lead and manage through influence.
- Functions as a positive, creative and effective leader monitoring patient care, acting as a patient advocate, ensuring customer’s expectations are met, actively participating in performance improvement activities and consulting in implementation of education programs.
- Oversees and promotes the length of stay and patient throughput goals of the respective department.
- Utilizes fiscal management skills to prepare, monitor and control budget, reduce expenses and generate increased revenues.
- Assures that the unit maintains a patient focus by serving as a role model with consistent focus of customer relations, providing feedback regarding positive and negative patient comments and participating in customer satisfaction initiatives.
- Participates in quality and service improvement activities and achieving outcomes, which respond to customer expectations.
- Ensures oversight of hospital operations from an hospital supervisor and administrator on duty leadership role. Ensures proper compliment of staff in float pool departments meeting the needs of the inpatient and outpatient units. Leads and supports work to decrease LOS and other hospital throughput metrics. Reports out daily and monthly as needed.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and municipal laws, regulations and ordinances for assigned area. Maintains staff compliance with medical center policies, procedures, standards of care, clinical pathways, clinical guidelines and protocols. Knowledge of regulatory, reimbursement, legal and policy issues as they relate to effective unit management.
- Ensures the efficient and effective utilization of personnel resources to provide nursing care within the confines of AB 394. Guides nursing staff in the provision of nursing care consistent with established standards, policies, and procedures. Assure that staff is competent in the provision of clinical and age-related care to assigned patient population.
- Develops and implements measurable objectives consistent with the organization's mission, goals and timetables. Is flexible and adjusts plans to meet changing conditions.
- Promotes the delivery of quality nursing care for areas of responsibility including development, implementation and reporting of staffing effectiveness.
- Assists nursing leadership with the strategic deployment of quality, operational and nursing practice programs.
- Evaluates and revises systems and processes of nursing services to ensure achievement of nurse-sensitive patient, client or family centered outcomes.

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, required.
- Master's Degree in Nursing or business field, preferred
Experience:
- Eight (8) years of clinical experience, minimum.
- Five (5) years of management/supervisor experience, minimum.
Licenses and Certifications:
- California RN License, minimum.
- Professional Certification: Patient Safety, Leadership, and/or Nursing Practice, minimum.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), minimum.
