What will I be doing in this role?

The Supervisor, Volunteer Services leads and coordinates day-to-day operations of the volunteer program to deliver consistent, mission-aligned service and meaningful volunteer engagement across the organization. Manages the end-to-end volunteer lifecycle from recruitment through recognition. Partners with internal departments and community partners to assess needs, develops and implements volunteer assignments and special initiatives, and ensure coverage and service goals are met. The Supervisor applies data-informed decision making, quality and safety standards, and equitable volunteer engagement practices to strengthen program effectiveness, maintain compliance and documentation, reduce operational risk, and support an exceptional experience for volunteers, patients, and staff:

  • Oversees operations and provides direct supervision to department staff.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and guidance to staff by facilitating training sessions and/or educational meetings to equip volunteers with the skills, knowledge, and tools necessary for success.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling, monitoring of time and attendance compliance, arranging and adjusting contingency schedules for vacations, and unscheduled days off.
  • Collaborates and partners with volunteers and staff across the organization on various projects and programs. Assesses needs and aligns volunteer support effectively. Supports new program rollouts, service expansions, and process improvements.
  • Handles administrative duties, including disciplinary process and performance improvement plans; resolve or facilitate resolution of problematic and/or complex issues by escalating to appropriate management/leadership person.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement, problem-solving, customer service, recognition, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Coordinates and supports volunteer appreciation events, recognition programs, and retention initiatives.
  • Maintains accurate records, schedules, attendance logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Leads volunteer onboarding activities, including interviews, orientations, documentation review, and placement decisions.
  • Develops and maintains training materials, role-specific guidelines, policies and procedures, and competency checklists.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for volunteer programs.
  • Monitors program performance metrics and contribute to departmental reports.
  • Communicates and supports change within the department. Creates and supports an environment that fosters teamwork, cooperation, respect, and diversity.

Qualifications

Requirements:

High school Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, social work, business administration or a related field preferred.

A minimum of 3 years of experience of staff, project management, or relevant experience.is required.

We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
