The Reproductive Psychology Program team is looking for a Psychology Fellow to join their team: https://www.cedars-sinai.org/programs/obstetrics-gynecology/specialties/reproductive-psychology.html. This position has a hybrid work schedule of 4 days on-site & 1 day remote.
Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, the Psychology Fellow evaluates and treats patients. The Fellow provides assessment and psychotherapeutic support to the patient and caregiver(s) as well as consultation with the PFSP and oncology teams. The Fellow provides patient care consistent with Scope of Practice Standards and Code of Ethics; the Plan for the Provision of Care to Patients, the Plan for Corporate Compliance, the Performance Improvement Plan and Patient Education Plan. The Fellow assists in the continuous quality improvement process and in the education and training of pre-doctoral trainees, as applicable, and, as part of professional development, assists in divisional growth and cohesiveness to ensure a high quality of patient care. Provides care maintaining safety of the environment, utilizing appropriate communication with sensitivity and attention to special populations, including patients with diverse cultural backgrounds, age, developmental issues and physical disabilities.
The Fellowship Program is designed to provide the Fellow with one or two years of post-graduate advanced training, which includes training with an emphasis in clinical practice and professional development, with the possibility of additional experience with research, operational/administrative duties or program development. The Fellow ensures completion of required didactic, clinical and mentored hours, based upon the setting's needs and the requirements of the program.
What are the Primary Duties and Responsibilities?
- Perform evaluations appropriate to established procedures. Ensure there is a referral/order for all evaluations and may use relevant test and standardized measures congruent to best practice. Develop a comprehensive plan of care that is supported by evaluation findings and prognosticates patient outcomes/progress, integrating all relevant factors into case conceptualization. Manage the clinical care of the patient and coordinates with others to ensure the patient receives the health care services needed. Complete all required documentation in an accurate and thorough manner within the expected timeframes.
- Utilize treatment intervention and strategies within the scope of practice and supported by established plan of care and integration of evidence-based practice to maximize patient outcomes tailored to specific patient populations.
- Provide patient education appropriate for patient population.
- Identify safety concerns regarding patient population and institutes appropriate measures to provide a safe environment, including protection of self and others. Review identified risks and benefits of therapy and obtains consent from patient and/or caregiver.
- Identify and facilitate patient discharge needs including documentation, communication with care team, and recommendation for follow-up services.
- Provide individualized, patient-centered care with respect to personal, cultural, spiritual beliefs and preferences; age-related cognitive and psychosocial needs; social support needs; gender, sexual orientation, and economic background.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions to continuously improve processes, procedures, methods and productivity, and utilizes quality principles for continuous performance improvement.
- Participate in continuous learning and professional development and documents evidence.
- Participate in activities that promote professional identity within the clinical environment, the Cedars-Sinai environment and the community at large.
- Complete all required components of the program, including didactic, mentorship, research or operational project requirements and documentation of activities.
Department-Specific Duties:
- Perform psycho-diagnostic evaluations and individual and group psychotherapy.
- Demonstrate an understanding of patient needs with devising and implementing treatment. Determine and establish realistic goals for psychotherapy.
- Attend program development for patients treated or evaluated.
- Research and monitor clinical and quality improvement project development.
- May lead or train staff research associates and research interns, as applicable
Qualifications
Education, License/Certification & Experience Requirements:
- Master's Degree from an accredited Psychology Psychology required.
- Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD or PhD) required
- American Health Associate Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
- Must have completed a 12-month full-time APA Approved Internship.
- Must be competent by virtue of training and/or experience to perform evaluations, design and implement treatment plans and provide education in a manner appropriate to the age of the patient.
