The Hazardous Waste Environmental Safety Coordinator at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles will perform a variety of duties in support of critical EH&S programs that provide a safe and regulatory compliant environment for staff, patients, and visitors. You will conduct a wide variety of hands-on technical duties in support of EH&S programs including but not limited hazardous waste pick-ups, hazardous material characterization & documentation, emergency spill response, equipment maintenance, ergonomic evaluations, environmental rounds and Safety Data Sheet management. As part of a team, you will respond to various incidents, emergencies and participate on-call. You will approach all issues and challenges with a customer-focused, practical, can-do attitude, considering the needs of the ‘customer’. You must be easily approachable, think creatively, and be able to communicate effectively to all audiences. You will identify meaningful metrics to demonstrate successes and identify opportunities for improvement. You will also generate and give professional presentations to interested persons and groups. You will generate and maintain records in a professional, regulatory compliant, and easily retrievable manner. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, regulatory expectations, and accepted good practice. Maintain responsibility for their own programs including hazardous waste management and operations, supporting other safety programs as assigned. Support the Emergency Management, Radiation Safety and Occupational and Environmental Safety programs, and performs other duties as needed.
Work with a minimal amount of supervision and make independent judgements and decisions within the scope of their delegated authority and activities.

Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- BS Degree in chemistry, biology or similar discipline
Licenses:
- Hazwhopper 40 hour is preferred
Experience:
- 2 years experience with handling hazardous and/or radioactive materials.
Physical Demands:
- Able to push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
- Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat consistently in order to safely administer manual exercises and techniques.

Our compensation philosophy
We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
