Postdoctoral Scientist, Hosoya Lab

Job ID 15397 Location Los Angeles, California, United States Job Category Academic / Research Date posted 02/24/2026

Job Description

This Postdoctoral Scientist role is designed as a training opportunity for those who have recently completed their PhD or doctoral degree. To ensure we provide the intended mentorship and career development, we are looking for candidates who are within five years of completing their doctorate. If you're within this timeframe and excited about advancing your research in a supportive and collaborative environment, we encourage you to apply!

The Hosoya Lab investigates the dynamics interactions between engineered cell therapies, endogenous immune responses, and tumor evolution in hematologic malignancies. Our goal is to understand why cellular immunotherapies succeed, fail, or lead to late toxicities – and to use these insights to develop safer and more durable treatment strategies.

We integrate translational patient samples with advanced immune profiling approaches, including single-cell genomics, TCR repertoire analysis, spatial technologies, and functional immune assays. A major focus of the lab is to define mechanisms of late toxicities following CAR T-cell and other cellular immunotherapies, including prolonged cytopenias and immune dysregulation, and to uncover how host immunity shapes both therapeutic response and resistance. Through close collaboration between laboratory and clinical teams, our work bridges mechanistic immunology with real-world patient outcomes.

This postdoctoral position offers an opportunity to study the interplay between cellular immunotherapy, host immune ecosystems, and tumor biology in patients with hematologic cancers. The candidate will lead and contribute to a range of innovative projects focusing on mechanisms of response and resistance to CAR T-cell therapy, immune drivers of late toxicities, and clonal and immune evolution following treatment. The postdoc will work at the interface of laboratory research and clinical investigation within a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.

Working independently but in close collaboration with the Principal Investigator and research team, the Postdoctoral Scientist will:

  • Design, execute, and interpret mechanistic immunology experiments
  • Perform and analyze single-cell, immune repertoire, and functional immune assays
