Regarding the Division of Plastic Surgery:

Cedars-Sinai is home to board-certified plastic surgeons and a team with unparalleled depth and experience in Southern California. We prioritize listening to our patients to fully understand their hopes and goals for personal improvement. Our Division of Plastic Surgery is committed to advancing plastic and reconstructive care through innovative research and modern technologies. Our mission is to improve patient outcomes, enhance surgical practices, and educate future leaders in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver thorough inpatient care for reconstructive plastic surgery patients, including post-operative and medically complex cases.
  • Conduct detailed history and physical examinations, assess diagnoses, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Manage wound care, flap monitoring, graft evaluation, surgical drains, and post-operative complications.
  • Order, interpret, and respond to laboratory tests, imaging, and diagnostic studies.
  • Coordinate post-operative management, including pain control, infection surveillance, anticoagulation management, and discharge readiness assessment.
  • Ensure timely and safe transitions of care, coordinating discharge planning with outpatient services, home health, and rehabilitation facilities.
  • Perform bedside procedures within the scope of practice (e.g., wound debridement, drain removal, suture/staple removal, dressing changes).
  • Supervise the inpatient floor service, working alongside reconstructive plastic surgery faculty, residents, fellows, nursing staff, case management, physical/occupational therapy, and consulting teams.
  • Develop and implement outstanding sign-out protocols for clear, concise patient care handoffs.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff on post-operative protocols and reconstructive care pathways.
  • Inform patients and their families about surgical procedures, wound care, medications, activity limitations, and what to expect after discharge.
  • Advise patients and families on recovery paths and signs of complications.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and protocol development within the reconstructive service.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
  • Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
  • Proven inpatient experience.
  • Surgery experience, with a strong preference for plastic surgery.
  • Outstanding communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Leadership and initiative with operational drive.
  • Strong time management and clinical prioritization skills.
Licensure/Certifications Requirements:
  • Current, California PA license.
  • National PA certification.
  • Current DEA License (schedule 2-5).
  • Current ACLS and PALS Certification.

We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location.
