What will you be doing:
The Physician Assistant (PA-C) is responsible for working under the direct supervision of their Supervising Physician, the PA shall provide pre-op and post-op assessments of patients, provide and/or assist in follow-up care, and, in the Operating Room.
Supervise care for the patients in the Cardiac Surgery ICU ranging from CABG and valve replacement/repairs to implantable VADs, Heart and Lung transplants, ECMO, aortic dissections, and aneurysm repairs
Perform bedside procedures within the scope of service, write progress notes, participate in daily rounds, write orders, dictate discharge notes, and participate in hospital wide quality improvement initiatives
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
One (1) plus years of experience as Physician Assistant (PA-C), preferably in cardiothoracic surgery preferred.
Two (2) plus years of experience managing cardiothoracic surgery patients or cardiac patients preferred.
ICU experience required.
Working knowledge of managing device patients preferred.
Educational/Licensure/Certifications Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
CA Physician Assistant License
National Commission Certification of PAs (NCCPA)
Current DEA license and Furnishing Number or eligibility to obtain
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS) certification
