As a Patient Service Representative II at Cedars-Sinai, you will serve a key function in our Anesthesia Pain Center. With general supervision and adherence to set procedures, policies, and guidelines, you will identify, analyze, resolve, and address customer inquiries, concerns, and issues. The ideal candidate demonstrates solid experience in revenue cycle operations and a comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements along with Cedars-Sinai policies related to billing and collections.
What will you be doing in this role?
- Independently manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, including payment collection and reconciliation.
- Maintain patient demographic and insurance details in the CS-Link system, ensuring high accuracy and data integrity.
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments effectively to ensure smooth patient flow. Maintain knowledge and understanding of scheduling protocols, guidelines, and standard operating procedures. May perform special scheduling requests from leadership or multi-coordination scheduling (e.g., echo, EKG, Zio, labs) following provider visit sequencing, such as panel visits.
- Coordinate procedures and testing with other departments and ancillary services, monitor daily patient schedule, and identify “no show” appointments for rescheduling.
- Analyze and understand complex healthcare insurance benefits to assess patients’ out-of-pocket expenses and authorization requirements.
- Manage providers' master schedules, handling all changes and patient/provider correspondence.
- Coordinate patient referrals and authorizations, ensuring that all patient interactions align with healthcare regulatory standards and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's guidelines.
- Participate actively in departmental huddles and staff meetings, occasionally leading discussions or presentations.
- Manage department-specific data and workflows using lean methodology.
- Promote and adhere to all infection prevention standards and department policies and procedures.
- Retrieve and acquire records as needed per clinical protocol. Follow CSMC and HIPAA confidentiality guidelines while performing all duties.
- Manage patient flow in the clinic, participate and guide patients for work-up in other departments as necessary. Act as a liaison between patients and the clinical team.
- Provide courier services around the medical center area, including picking up and delivering supplies. Maintain patient demographic and insurance details in the CS-Link system, ensuring precise and accurate data.
- Apply a consistent telephone greeting, answer calls, take complete and accurate messages, triage, and relay them to the right party to support patient care. May use an automated call distribution system (ACD).
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Associate Degree/College Diploma – Preferred
Experience:
- 2 years of experience working with insurance companies and acquiring authorizations required.
- One (1) year of EPIC experience, CPT coding medical procedures, understanding insurance guidelines, attention to detail, and the ability to educate providers and staff on insurance and procedures guidelines highly preferred.

Our compensation philosophy
We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
