Cedars-Sinai Center for Weight Management and Metabolic Health is seeking an Obesity Medicine Physician to provide high-quality, evidence-based, multidisciplinary care for patients living with obesity and related metabolic conditions. This role offers an opportunity to practice within a collaborative program that includes lifestyle medicine, medical management, and coordinated procedural and surgical options.
About the Obesity Medicine Program
The Obesity Medicine Program provides a comprehensive outpatient service with evidence-based care for complex and chronic diseases. Many patients present with advanced obesity-related conditions, including end-organ disease such as cirrhosis and end-stage renal disease, as well as related comorbidities including sleep apnea, metabolic dysfunction–associated fatty liver disease (MASLD/MAFLD), hypertension, and mental health conditions.
Within a coordinated, multidisciplinary model, the program integrates obesity lifestyle intervention, adjunct therapies (including pharmacotherapy), and close collaboration with procedural and surgical teams. The program focuses on clinical outcomes, disease burden reduction, and improved overall health and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide outpatient longitudinal follow-up for patients with obesity and related metabolic conditions
- Develop and manage individualized, evidence-based treatment plans, including obesity pharmacotherapy and lifestyle plan development
- Manage patients pre-, peri-, and post–metabolic and bariatric surgery
- Co-manage obesity-related conditions, including: type 2 diabetes, MASLD/MAFLD, hypertension, and OSA
Program Development & Integration
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and standardization of clinical protocols and evidence-based care pathways
- Support ongoing program growth and integration of obesity medicine services within a multidisciplinary care model
Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary and surgical teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care
- Serve as a clinical resource within a multidisciplinary obesity medicine care model
Teaching, Mentorship & Academic Contribution
- Participate in teaching and mentorship of clinical staff, advanced practice providers, and trainees
- Contribute to the program’s academic mission through case-based teaching, clinical supervision, and dissemination of evidence-based obesity medicine practices
- Support development of a strong academic environment for learners rotating through the program
Quality & Scholarship
- Participate in quality improvement, outcomes measurement, and development of best practices in obesity medicine
- Contribute to clinical research, quality initiatives, and outcomes-based efforts that advance obesity medicine and support the academic mission of the program
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant documentation

We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The pay range shown takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors. This pay range includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. We also offer a comprehensive faculty benefits package.
Pay Range: $270,000.00 - $372,000.00 total cash compensation
Qualifications
Physician Requirements:
Education
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Experience
- Experience in obesity medicine, endocrinology, primary care, or a related field
- Experience caring for medically complex patients with obesity-related cardiometabolic disease is preferred
- Experience with multidisciplinary care models, program development, or academic initiatives is desirable
Licensure / Certifications
- Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or relevant specialty
- Eligible for an unrestricted California license as Physician
- Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of California
- BLS certification
- American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) certification required
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
- Eligible for appointment to the appropriate academic rank in the CSMC
Preferred Qualifications
- Obesity Medicine fellowship training
- Experience with obesity, pharmacotherapy and management of medically complex patients
- Experience in clinical research, quality improvement, or medical education
