What will you be doing:
The Manager, Social Worker is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of California and provides clinical, administrative, human resource, and financial management for social work services in inpatient and outpatient areas. Develops, implements and maintains a comprehensive and fiscally sound social services program as directed by the Associate Director of Social Work and orchestrates cohesive patient care practices which address the psychosocial needs of the patients from admission through discharge and across the continuum of care. Ensures departmental operations are aligned with the goals, objectives, and key initiatives of the organization's strategic plan. Demonstrates principled leadership that supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Maintains solid understanding of all applicable state and federal regulations, organizational policies, and national standards of practice. Mentors and coaches' staff in redefining culture, processes, and practice that follows the patient centered care model and meets the demands of pioneering health care delivery.
- Assists with the development of a quality budget according to the goals and objectives of Cedars-Sinai meeting all established time frames established for budget completion; assists with forecasting annual budget needs; collaborates with medical staff/Administration to find opportunities to reduce cost or enhance revenues; implements appropriate cost savings measures for the department.
- Uses productivity measurement tools to track how well social workers are performing in the department and provides feedback to staff on a regular basis.
- Prioritize tasks/projects effectively; initiating changes as required, or as vital for the improvement of office facilities and staff productivity; exercising good judgment, creativity in solving unusual problems, and flexibility to adapt to changes; managing additional assignments and multiple tasks effectively and efficiently; demonstrating personal attributes and behaviors which contribute to the smooth operation of the office.
- Establishes and maintains effective practices that provide for optimal quality and outcomes for patients/customers. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies (Joint Commission, CMS, Title 22, etc.). Foster continuous learning and improvement in all aspects of service including financial, operational, clinical, academic, customer service and innovation.
- Encourage staff to prevent, detect and resolve violations of the CS policy and federal and state laws. Detecting and reporting non-compliance with CS policy and federal and state laws and ensuring all employees under their supervision complete required compliance training.
- Assists AD of Social Work with critical initiatives for department, to complement with CS strategic goals and completes all initiatives timely and effectively.
- Assists in the development of and implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive and fiscally sound social services program and orchestrates cohesive patient care practices which address the psychosocial needs of the patients from admission through discharge and across the continuum of care as evidenced by: assisting in writing and maintaining a Plan for Providing Care that clearly delineates the scope, goals/objectives, and organization of social work services; implementing services based on the written plan; updating plan annually, assisting and developing and maintaining written policies and procedures based on regulatory requirements, relevant institutional requirements, and population served. Ensuring documentation in the medical record is in accordance with established policies (accurate, concise, and objective) and includes assessment, plan for care, interventions, and evaluation. Aligning with standards of staffing ratios; assigning staff to areas according to competency.
- Managing areas of responsibility daily to maintain visibility and facilitate communication with staff as evidenced by: Detecting and resolving issues at point of care in a timely manner. Facilitating resolution of ethical/legal patient care dilemmas; serving as a patient/family and staff advocate when indicated. Ensuring staff functions collaboratively within the interdisciplinary healthcare team; participating in resolving process issues, interdepartmental, problems. Developing and implementing employ impact plans to grow and enhance employee engagement.
- Ensures proper Social Work Services to provide hospital-wide coverage after hours (as needed in the ED and other departments as needed), weekends, and holidays. May be required to provide direct patient care if needed during times of high census and/or when staff coverage is needed to meet staffing ratios.
- Assists in the development of and implementation, and maintenance of a performance improvement process; identifies measurable outcomes and attainable targets; collects and evaluates data; compiles reports; makes recommendations for changes; implements change as needed; sustains improvement.
- Analyzes problems in a systematic, logical, and timely manner; identifies and implements effective and innovative solutions; keeps Director advised of status of department.
- Ensures social work staff is competent, and all personnel receive education and orientation of sufficient duration and substance to prepare them for their functions and responsibilities. Provides for ongoing training as needed.
- Supports the training of future healthcare professionals; collaborates with instructors from affiliated Master of Social Work Program regarding standards of practice, student expectations, and clinical placement; markets Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as employer of excellence.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
Three (3) plus years of Acute hospital care leadership experience, preferably Academic leadership medical center experience.
Educational/License Requirements:
Master degree in Social Work (MSW).
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Certified Case Manager (CCM) or Accredited Case Manager (ACM), preferred.
