What you will be doing:

You will perform specialized and sophisticated health information activities vital to organize, maintain and use electronic and paper patient health records. May specialize in one or more of the intermediate clerical functions including but not limited to: quantitative and qualitative analysis of medical records and Incomplete Record Processing. Positions at this level have high customer service, strong analytic, problem-solving skills and are able to interpret and explain CSMC policy and external requirements related to chart documentation and completion. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates detailed knowledge of administrative practice, and writes policies and procedures for the section, as well as Medical Center policy as it pertains to the department. 
  • Facilitates the flow of work from section clerical staff to ensure timely completion in accordance with regular and special scheduling requirements. 
  • Assists section staff with prioritizing their daily work assignment and can fill-in and cover all duties of section as the need arises. 
  • Assists supervisor with orientating, assessing competencies and training of all new employees and training as new procedures are developed within the section. 
  • May assist in the recruitment process for section and provides input in the selection of applicants. 
  • Monitors and reports performance of each employee to supervisor. Assists with the performance evaluation by providing input as it relates to job performance. 
  • Responsible for monitoring and/or processing all sectional productivity reports to ensure the tasks are completed, i.e., Overdue Report, Incomplete Requests, Excel Spreadsheet, etc. 
  • Establishes and maintains data base records for the section. Prepares periodic, recurring reports from the file and data base. At the direction of the Supervisor researches, gathers, sorts, compiles, and organizes information from the section files. 

Qualifications

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required. 

A minimum of 3 years of experience working in Health Information, Medical Records, or a related field required.

Microsoft Word and Excel experience (at an intermediate level) a big plus.
