Our Pediatric Dance/Movement Therapy Program offers a creative and therapeutic environment for children to engage in expressive movement and dance. Through movement, children will develop physical, emotional, social, and cognitive skills that promote overall well-being. 

The program combines dance techniques with therapeutic practices to assist children in overcoming challenges such as emotional difficulties, developmental delays, trauma, and disabilities. 

Position Summary:

 The therapist will be responsible for developing and facilitating individualized and group dance/movement therapy sessions for children. The role involves working closely with children, families, and other professionals to address developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs, helping each child reach their full potential through the medium of movement. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement individualized and group dance/movement therapy programs tailored to the developmental and emotional needs of children.

 • Assess children’s physical, emotional, and cognitive needs to inform treatment planning and therapeutic interventions. 

• Foster a safe, nurturing, and creative environment where children feel free to express themselves through movement. 

• Work collaboratively with families, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to track progress and provide integrated care.

 • Monitor and document each child’s progress, adjusting therapeutic approaches as needed.

 • Provide education and resources to families regarding the benefits of dance/movement therapy and how they can support their child's development at home. 

• Lead individual and group sessions that include elements of creative dance, improvisation, and structured movement exercises. 

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all professional interactions and documentation.


Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: 

Bachelor's Degree required Master's Degree preferred

Experience:

Minimum Preferred 1 year Experience as a Dance Movement Therapist 

Licenses and Certifications:

Registered or Board-Certified Dance Movement Therapist R-DMT or BC-DMT required

Pediatrics Life Support (PALS) required
