Central Issues Assistant, Full Time - 1st Shift

Job Description

We are hiring a Central Issues Assistant, Full Time – 1st Shift. This is a hands-on departmental support role responsible for assisting with the pick-up, handling, and cleaning of specialized equipment. We are seeking candidates with experience cleaning specialized equipment and providing excellent customer service. This is not an office or administrative assistant position.

The Central Issues Assistant supports patient care by ensuring medical equipment is properly cleaned, stocked, transported, and available when needed. Working under indirect supervision, this role is responsible for the delivery, pick-up, stocking, and cleaning of medical equipment in preparation for patient care use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleans medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer protocols and established patient safety requirements.
  • Picks up used medical equipment from designated soiled utility rooms and transports it for appropriate cleaning and processing.
  • Delivers requested medical equipment to patient care areas throughout the North and South Towers and Saperstein.
  • Restocks medical equipment in designated PAR locations and maintains neat, organized, and appropriate inventory levels.
  • Confirms accurate delivery and placement of medical equipment using established PAR stock location lists.
  • Helps ensure nurses and patients have timely access to requested medical equipment and supplies.
  • Supports the ongoing management and movement of approximately 6,000 medical equipment items across the hospital based on operational and patient care needs.
  • Following proper cleaning protocol per the manufacturer’s instructions for use for medical equipment in preparation for patient care use. Medical equipment may include the following; Air Flow, Alaris EtCO2, Alaris Module, Alaris PCA, Alaris Pump, Alaris Syringe Module, Bair Hugger, Epidural Pump, Feeing Pump, Foot Pump, Hepa Filter, Hypo-Hyperthermia, Medela Thopaz, PAPR Helmets, Portable Suction, SCD Machines, Temperature Pump, Wall Suction(s), and Wound Vacs.
  • Routine pick up of all equipment from soiled utility rooms across the Medical Center campus to be brought to decontamination area for proper cleaning, sterilization, and stocking to cleaned equipment area.
  • Routine stocking of equipment to areas where par levels have been set for specific areas and units.
  • Assist in any ad hoc requests from Supervisors regarding hospital equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This is a day (1st shift) position, with scheduled hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of related hospital or inventory experience dealing with supplies or medical equipment.
