The Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our Urgent Care team.
As an Urgent Care Physician Assistant, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses and minor injuries in a fast-paced ambulatory setting. You will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients independently while collaborating with board-certified physicians and other members of the healthcare team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes. This role requires strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and excellent communication skills to care for patients of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and urgent medical conditions.
Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform age-appropriate physical examinations.
Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic tests, including laboratory and imaging studies.
Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans and prescribe medications within scope of practice.
Perform common urgent care procedures, including laceration repair, incision and drainage, splinting, wound care, foreign body removal, abscess management, and other office-based procedures.
Recognize patients requiring a higher level of care and facilitate appropriate transfer or referral to the Emergency Department or specialty services.
Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations.
Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the Epic electronic medical record.
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, radiology technicians, and ancillary staff to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain clinical competency through continuing education.
Qualifications
License/Certification Requirements
Current California Physician Assistant license required.
National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification required.
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
Experience
Minimum one (1) year of Physician Assistant experience in an Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Primary Care setting strongly preferred.
Experience managing patients across the lifespan is preferred.
Experience performing common urgent care procedures is highly desirable.
Experience with Epic electronic medical record preferred.

Our compensation philosophy
We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
