Job Description

Our Psychologist will serve as a key member of the Collaborative Care Program for Mental Health, serving as a clinical supervisor for behavioral health specialists, advising and training on therapy modalities, delivering direct care in the program, and supporting other aspects of the program as needed or requested.  The Psychologist provides consultation to behavioral health specialists and supports them in day-today- management of patient concerns that may arise. As a clinical advisor, the candidate assists with developing and implementing care pathways that ensure appropriate level of care, develops evidence-based strategies for short-term therapy for patients in the program, helps to monitor outcomes, and contributes to the optimization of the program. The incumbent assists in developing, setting, implementing, and evolving strategic direction of the program. In this role, the Psychologist will directly care for patients in the program with an appropriate patient case load and help support the team during periods of high demand or staff absences. This individual will serve as an educator, trainer, advisor and provides clinical support as needed. 

  • Provides education and consultation to providers, patients, staff and other cross-functional teams: including clinical consultation either directly or via e-consultation to program members and one-time diagnostic consultation for identified/complicated collaborative care patients.
  • Directs weekly individual and group consultation for program team.
  • Develops and implements training tailored to program specific workflows.
  • Participates in the development of and makes recommendations regarding sustainability planning for program billing and revenue.
  • Directs and attends case conferences, clinical rounds, and other types of meetings which address patient management and care coordination for patients.
  • Guides and educates trainees, support staff, providers and others, as indicated.
  • Interfaces with other Population Health service providers and program leads to achieve integration and coordination of care for patients.
  • Provides short-term evidence-based therapy to patients in the collaborative cared model.
  • Assist in collaborative care scaling and provision of training and ongoing clinical supervision to subsequent sites/Mental Health staff in evidence-based therapies.
  • Provision of didactics to MH staff, providers, ACM/ISP/SCM and trainees in support of ongoing MH education.
  • Creation and coordination of psychoeducational classes for CSMG patients and ongoing clinical supervision of MH staff/trainees to conduct these classes including pain management, taper programs and other groups/programs as relevant (e.g. primary care, OB/GYN, GI or Pediatrics).

  • Identifies and responds appropriately to both internal and external customer needs utilizing available resources.

**This position is part-time Monday through Friday and is 21/hrs per week with Clinical hours on average 8-10 hours
***This role is hybrid and is ⅔ administrative including overseeing  the work of 4 social workers and ⅓ clinical
****There are no calls or weekends


Qualifications

Educational requirements:

  • Doctorate related to program field for Mental Health, PsyD or PHD 
  • Active California License as a Licensed Doctor of Psychology

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years’ specialized training in evidence-based, short-term, solution-focused treatment models.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in supervising other health care professionals and serve as a positive role model for the profession and other staff, consistently fostering a solution-oriented approach.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working consultatively, including knowledge of the scientific evidence underpinning treatment recommendations.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in a collaborative care mental health model in ambulatory care or as a provider in a primary-care-based mental health model strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to value-based medicine by using evidence-based clinical guidelines, ensuring that care is delivered in the most appropriate setting, collaborating, with a multi-disciplinary care team and adopting a practice philosophy that emphases clinical excellence and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary team setting. Excellent communication skills and positive, flexible, and solution-focused attitude.
  • Computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows and/or a comparable operating system and electronic medical record systems that sufficiently provides for access to and appropriate sharing of patient and other business information.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize medical and psychiatric data and formulate effective and evidence-based clinical recommendations.
