As a Neurodiagnostic Tech III, you will care for patients diagnosed with a brain or nerve condition, seeking the most advanced care from top specialists in the field. Summary of Essential Duties:
The Neurodiagnostic Technologist III (IOM Tech) works closely with the Neurophysiologist during the surgical procedures to monitor and assess the functional integrity of the peripheral and/or central nervous system during vascular, orthopedic, and other neurosurgical procedures. The technologist must be able to work independently utilizing a variety of sophisticated instrumentation and applies valid clinical judgment in the performance of clinical neurophysiology procedures.
- Perform routine neurodiagnostics including but not limited to Somoatosensory Evoked Potential (SSEPs), Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential (BAER), Transcranial Motors (TcMEP), Train of 4 (TO4), Electromyography (EMG), Triggered EMG, and Electroencephalogram (EEG). Comfortable performing multimodal monitoring including but not limited to complex spine, brain/brainstem, and vascular surgeries.
- Assists with department projects including but not limited to research, database maintenance, and quality assurance. The technologist may be asked to head projects, taking a lead role in the maintenance and completion of neurophysiology task that aid the lab and/or the scientific community.
- Prepare rooms before and after studies and/or procedures. Explains details of procedure to patients, in accordance with standards of practice as defined by Cedars-Sinai and applicable certifying or regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Graduate of an Electroneurodiagnostic technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or equivalent formal training required
License/Certifications:
- Certification in Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring (CNIM) from ABRET required
- BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in EEG or EP & IOM required
- Applicants with at least 3 years of experience may be considered as a Neuro Tech II
