Job Description

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, one of the nation’s premier academic healthcare institutions, is seeking a full-time faculty physician to join the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Cedars-Sinai gynecology was just ranked number 7 in the US and number 1 in Los Angeles in 2023 by US News and World Report.  The OB/GYN Department has 27 faculty members and over 120 private attendings across all Gynecological and Obstetrical specialties. The department has an independent residency program with 7 residents per year, as well as fellowship programs in MFM, REI and GYN Oncology. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is one of the busiest hospitals in California with over 6800 deliveries and over 2500 gynecologic surgical cases per year. The majority of procedures involve resident care which creates a high expectation for excellence in teaching. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology has six board certified gynecologic oncologists as well as research scientists in the women’s cancer program. The new faculty member will collaborate with faculty and private physicians to maintain the highest standards of excellence and carry out the program’s vision of advancing cancer care for women.

The Gynecologic Oncology Division has a long track record of excellence in patient care, research, and resident/fellow education and provides an excellent environment for professional mentorship.  The practice is active both clinically and academically, with a very busy surgical schedule, sizeable clinical trials portfolio as well as cutting edge translational research.  Outpatients are seen in the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute and faculty work with a multidisciplinary team including medical, surgical and radiation oncologists, genetic counselors, and palliative care services.  Educational conferences include tumor boards, grand rounds, morbidity and mortality conferences, journal clubs and other didactic opportunities.

We’re a premier academic nonprofit health system in the heart of the vibrantly diverse city of Los Angeles, with a rapidly expanding global presence. From gender-affirming care for the L.A. community to stem cell cultivation in space, our work is boundless. Surround yourself with experts who affirm your passions and get the time and resources to pursue them. We provide care to patients in the broader L.A. area – over 15,000 people across 250 locations, caring for over one million lives each year.

At Cedars-Sinai, we are caretakers and innovators committed to the pursuit of equitable healthcare. Our people must reflect the diverse identities, experiences and geographies of the communities and patients we serve.

Our compensation philosophy
We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees.  The total pay range shown above takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.  This total pay range includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. We also offer a comprehensive faculty benefits package. Pay Range: $387,000 – $563,000 total cash compensation.

Qualifications

The candidate must be BE/BC in Obstetrics and Gynecology and have completed a Board-approved fellowship program in Gynecologic Oncology. The candidate must be trained and experienced in gynecologic cancer surgeries including minimally invasive laparoscopic and/or robotic surgery. They must be able to prescribe and manage chemotherapy and eager to assume a major role in direct patient care as part of our highly integrated team. Participation in interventional and supportive clinical trials is expected with authorship commensurate with participation.  They must be able to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and must possess or be able to obtain a valid, non-restrictive California Medical License. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to academic medicine and be an excellent educator. Faculty appointments are through the Cedars-Sinai Professorial Series and the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
