What will you be doing in this role:
The Senior Design System Designer, where you’ll lead the charge in shaping the future of our design system, Catalyst. In this pivotal role, you’ll harness your expertise in Figma and design systems to craft a scalable, accessible, and seamless user experience that redefines digital care. As the architect of Catalyst’s evolution, you’ll encourage and enable designers, developers, and product teams to create groundbreaking solutions that align with Cedars-Sinai’s mission to transform digital healthcare and improve the well-being of our community.
- Build, maintain, and evolve Cedar-Sinai's design system, Catalyst, including design tokens, reusable components, wireframing components, design patterns, and style guides to ensure consistent digital experiences.
- Ensure Catalyst remains flexible, consistent, and scalable to accommodate the evolving needs of various digital products and design teams.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation, usage guidelines, and component libraries, supporting designers and developers in adopting and implementing the system effectively.
- Partner with product designers, engineers, UX writers, and other stakeholders to ensure Catalyst is seamlessly integrated into product development workflows.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and presentations to educate team members on using the design system and best practices for implementation.
- Lead all aspects of quality checks to ensure consistent implementation of design components and patterns across digital products.
- Regularly audit the system and gather feedback to improve accessibility, usability, and compliance with industry standards
- Stay ahead of industry trends in design systems, Atomic Design, and Figma advancements to ensure Catalyst remains innovative.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
Five (5) plus years of experience in Figma, including design system management, component creation, and prototyping. Strong system organization, versioning experience, and Figma administration skills.
Deep understanding of Design Tokens and Atomic Design principles with experience applying them for an Enterprise design system.
Strong visual design skills, with a demonstrated ability to create and maintain icon libraries, illustration styles, and cohesive design elements that improve Catalyst’s visual language.
Experience working closely with engineers to bridge the gap between design and development. Proficiency & knowledge in front-end technologies (HTML, React, CSS, JavaScript frameworks, Storybook).
Experience with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and ability to design systems that are inclusive and accessible to all users.
Experience with design system documentation and additional project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana).
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED.
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Media Arts or related field. (preferred)
