TheSmidt Heart Institute is home to a distinguished team of experts who are setting the bar for cardiovascular care in the United States.
We unite 16 centers and programs to diagnose and treat the full spectrum of heart and vascular conditions for all patients, from infants to those with advanced disease. Compassionate care is integrated with an agile research enterprise, giving patients access to pioneering treatments.

Summary of Essential Duties:- The Echo Sonographer assists physicians in performing basic Echocardiographic imaging and other procedures.
- Performs ultrasound imaging technologies for cardiac patients in an outpatient setting.
- Assists with detecting issues related to blood flow and heart ailments and escalates appropriately to physicians as they develop diagnoses and design patient treatment plans.
- Receives mentorship until able to exercise competency in the use of all related ultrasound equipment and imaging protocols.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe patient environment and ensures that the room and equipment are prepared, functional and stocked for assigned procedures.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound school required
License/Certifications:
- BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
- RDCS from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or RCS issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International required
- Applicants willing to obtain certification within one year from start date may be considered as a Sonographer I
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer required
- Applicants with less than 3 years of experience may be considered as a Sonographer I
