Job Description
The Executive Director, Medical Network Ambulatory Surgery Centers provides executive leadership, operational oversight, and strategic director for a portfolio of hospital-owned and joint-venture ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). This role is accountable for clinical quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, physician partnerships, and operational standardization while ensuring alignment with Cedars-Sinai Medical Network and system-wide strategic objectives.
| Provides executive leadership and strategic direction for Medical Network ambulatory surgery services in alignment with system objectives. |
| Develops and executes regional ambulatory surgery strategies to support growth, access, quality, and differentiation. |
| Oversees operational performance across multiple ambulatory surgery centers including access, throughput, staffing, and patient experience. |
| Accountable for financial performance including budget management, case volume, EBITDA, labor productivity, and cost-per-case. |
| Leads annual operating plans, long-range strategic planning, and capital planning initiatives. |
| Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements including CMS, AAAHC or Joint Commission, and state agencies. |
| Partners with clinical leadership to promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and continuous performance improvement. Oversees quality programs including credentialing, infection prevention, performance improvement, and case review. Addresses escalated patient, physician, or regulatory issues requiring executive-level intervention. |
| Provides executive oversight of ambulatory surgery center administrators and regional operational leadership. |
| Builds and maintains strong relationships with physicians, anesthesia providers, and clinical partners. |
| Drives standardization of operating procedures, governance structures, and management practices across centers. |
| Oversees vendor relationships and contracts including anesthesia services, implants, and service agreements. |
| Leads workforce planning, leadership development, and succession planning initiatives. Supports physician recruitment, onboarding, block utilization, and case migration strategies. |
| Oversees ambulatory surgery center development, expansion, and facility modernization initiatives. Identifies and evaluates opportunities for new ambulatory surgery center development, acquisitions, and service line expansion. |
| Monitors and reports key performance indicators and prepares executive-level reporting for leadership and governance bodies. |
| Leads the end-to-end onboarding and integration of new ambulatory surgery centers across the acquisition, joint venture, and de novo development models, ensuring timely operational readiness, alignment with health system strategy, establishment of governance and management infrastructure, and seamless transition into enterprise clinical, financial, and compliance standards. |
Qualifications
WORK EXPERIENCE:
10 years minimum - Progressive leadership experience in ambulatory surgery, outpatient services, or healthcare operations.
12 years minimum - ASC or outpatient leadership experience.
10 years minimum - Demonstrated success managing multiple sites or a regional portfolio.
10 years minimum - Experience in physician partnership or joint-venture environments.
10 years minimum - Proven financial management and P&L accountability.

Our compensation philosophy
We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
